SOUTHERN SOUTHTYROL Holiday Resort

The Holiday Resort is an experience of genuine southern charm at the southern feet of the Dolomites. The typically Mediterranean climate gives not only famous wines like Kalterersee, Lagrein, St. Magdalener, Terlaner Sauvignon and Gewürztraminer, but also palm trees, olive trees and fig trees. Lake Kaltern is the warmest lake for bathing in the alpine region (water temperatures in the month of May of about 18°C, 21°C in June, and 26°C in July - August)

Bolzano/Bozen: cosmopolitan and tolerant

Bozen is the regional capital of South Tyrol and a city located at the crossroads of cultures. Anyone travelling to Italy or north must pass through Bozen. The interplay between two great cultures has made Bozen a cosmopolitan and tolerant European city. It is no coincidence if Maestro Claudio Abbado has chosen Bozen for his music academy. It is called a bridge between north and south, as it has always been German and Italian. Even the architecture has a multicultural flair with its Gothic facades, Rococo houses and Italian Renaissance influences.

The arcades, the Museumsstraße and Walther Square are teeming with life with folk costume shops and Italian luxury boutiques, traditional fruit markets and fine delicatessens, cafes and wine shops. Tourists seeking culture stroll between Bozen's Gothic cathedral, the many facades, the Dominican cloister with frescoes by Giotto and the South Tyrolean Archaeological Museum with Ötzi, the famous iceman. In Bozen even the vegetation is "cosmopolitan": cypresses, olive trees and palm trees give way to deep green vineyards as the height above sea level increases. Then come downy oaks and hop-hornbeams and finally dry grass and rocks. All around the basin run the promenades that the inhabitants of Bozen love so much. They are lined with rare plant species and tall trees hundreds of years old. And all around the lush vineyards give that alluring southern charm.
