Lake Kaltern
A lake perfect for bathing, with a widely recognizable name, Lake Kaltern lay in a deep valley, snugly nestled between two mountain groups and is cozily surrounded by wineyards, forests and reeds. The lake definitely gives the area its distinct characteristic.
Not too big and not too small: the lake is approximately two kilometers long and one kilometer wide. In total it is 147 hectares in area and has an average depth of 4 meters, which makes it the warmest lake in the Alps. To put it simply, from the months of May to September, Lake Kaltern has been known to spoil quite a number of bathers.
Fishermen, surfers, conservationists, sailors, bathers and boaters; they all find themselves at home here.
