Southern South Tyrol on horse back
The climate becomes more and more warm coming from north to Bozen and Southern South Tyrol. Also the landscape becomes more flad, which is very advantageous for horse riding.
The real horse-Mecca of Southern Southern South Tyrol is Ritten plateau above Bozen. Here you can choose where to spend your riding-holidays between many different horse-farms.
An insider tip is the Kaserhof-farm in Oberbozen. Here live Icelander-horses, Arabian-horses and also a lot of Lamas. Have you ever made Lama-trekking? The Lamas are carrying wine, speck and farmers-bread in their saddleback. You lead them with your group to a beautiful place where you spend joyfully hours in company of the nice Lamas.
Do you like Western-riding? So go to Mendel-Pass above Bozen, where you find intact nature and distance from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. At the Coflari Ranch in Ruffré you can take western-riding lessons and make also more-day-tours on very good instructed horses.
Last but not least an advice: every year in May the Eppaner Burgenritt takes place. The event in Eppan is organized like a medieval tournament with different disciplines which have be mastered on horse back. More than 100 riders take part at this really unique event.
